Housecleaning 101

Saturday morning, the kids woke up whining and complaining about everything, so I decided it was a good day for them to learn how to clean around the house. I had been putting this task off because I can do it myself better and faster, but now I don't have the time to do it at all. So, we started clean up 101 and to my surprise, they did a wonderful job. Jacob cleaned his bathroom, baseboards and vacuumed half of the house. He thought the day was fun and wanted more jobs to do. Riley dusted and he took his job very seriously. He took his time and did a wonderful job. Riley also helped out with the vacuuming, trash and picking up. Wow, I don't plan on cleaning their bathroom or dusting again any time soon and for now, they think it is fun. How long will that last? Class..next week we will learn how to wash windows....

4 Months Old

It is hard to believe our little guy is already 4 months old. Time can sure slip by when you are not paying attention! Kyle is becoming quite the big boy! He can roll over from front to back and sit up with little assistance. Kyle coos and talks all the time and tries to tell us what he is thinking. He has just started rubbing his eyes when he is tired and still chews on his fists. Almost all of his dark newborn hair is gone and has been replaced with blonde fuzz. (No he is not bald, their is some fuzz there.)

Kyle does not know what to think of the Bumbo chair that Mimi got for him.

Birthday Celebration

We celebrated Kelly's birthday on Friday afternoon with a trip to Clovis. I pulled Jacob out of school a few minutes early, so we could make the early showing of Horton Hears a Who. We all enjoyed the movie. Kyle took a nap through the first part of the show (just like his dad). When Kyle woke up, he just cooed and laughed just like all the other noisy kids in the theater. We forgot it was Spring Break in New Mexico and the theater was packed!

After the movie, we went to Shogun's for dinner. Riley was disappointed I did not tell them it was Kelly's birthday because he was looking forward to the cheesecake they bring out for birthdays.

We managed to make it back to Muleshoe before the sun went down. Jacob and Riley talked Kelly into a little catch before we went in. They are both looking forward to baseball starting in a few weeks and have been practicing when they get the chance. Riley will play T-ball and Jacob will play machine pitch.

Spring Break 2008

We are back in the groove after being gone for almost a week and a half. Friday, March 14th, the boys had their Easter parties at school. Jacob sure made a haul with Easter Eggs.




Riley had a party, too. His class sang "Little Bunny Foo Foo" and then went outside to hunt eggs. (Sorry, I know you all have the song stuck in your head now.)

After the parties, we loaded up and headed for Mason. The loading part took a little strategy. It is amazing how much stuff the smallest member of our family requires. Between the pack and play, bathtub, clothes, blankets, diapers, stroller, etc... there was a little room for the rest of our clothes. We did manage to get the dirt bike on a small trailer rack on the back of the Suburban. Finally, we were off!

Kelly and I stayed in Mason on Saturday and then headed for Corpus on Sunday. We left Jacob and Riley in Mason to watch after Mimi and Pawpaw while we were gone. We had a good time in Corpus and the trip can be summed up in one word....FOOD. We ate really well and tried to have Cold Stone as much as possible. Kyle was a real trooper and even let Kelly and me enjoy the aquarium one afternoon. The weather in Corpus was extremely windy and it even rained mud one night. Kelly and I felt right at home! We were able to visit several friends on the way home. Congrats again to the ones expecting in San Antonio.


It rains mud in other places than West Texas.


This is the view from our hotel in Corpus. We did not have a chance to tour the Lexington...maybe next time.

We returned to Mason late Thursday and stayed for Easter. Sunday afternoon, we came home.

What a great week. Thanks Mimi and Pawpaw for all your help with the boys. We hope you had a great birthday Aunt J.

Riley Can!

Riley can finally tie his shoes all by himself. We have been practicing and the practice has paid off. Now, if he could only tie them in less than 10 minutes, we would be in good shape!

A Lot of Sticks

Kelly finally found himself home on a beautiful day. There was no getting out of my honey-do list today! We put Kyle down for his nap and all headed outside to do a little work around the yard. I had Jacob and Riley (and even one of the neighbor boys) picking up leaves that had blown between our house and Memaw's. I payed them off with a little Kool-aid and popcorn. Kelly and I tackled the task of trimming trees. Actually, Kelly did the work...I supervised. We got quite a bit accomplished and we were dreading the task of hauling off all those branches when a neighbor called and asked if they could have them. Yippee for us. We left the branches in the yard and came in to relax. Jacob and Riley have enjoyed breaking up the branches into guns and swords. (Imagine that!)
