I just noticed that my last entry was September 3rd. Where have I been? I know you are sitting on the edge of your chair wondering what the Kettner family has been doing the last couple of weeks. Well, sit back and relax while I get you up to speed.
Jacob and Riley have adjusted to school. (Riley not so much the waking up early part, but he loves school, especially recess!) We are trying to read as much as possible with both boys. Sometimes that means 20 minutes before bed, but that is as much as possible around here.
Both Jacob and Riley are still playing football. Jacob loves it and plans to be a professional football player when he grows up. (At least that is the plan for this week.) Riley likes being with his friends. He is still a little confused about the rules. We spend so much time teaching Jacob the "correct" way to tackle and then we have to teach Riley not to tackle because he is playing flag.
Mimi and Pawpaw came for a visit last weekend. They had lunch with the boys at school, watched football on Saturday morning, babysat Saturday night, saw Jacob get a Bible in church and picked peas and pumpkins. We all had a great time!!
Jacob signed up for 4H on Tuesday and already made a shooting club on Wednesday. I think he is going to really like 4H. We still have not decided if we are going to let him show a pig this year. Kelly thinks it might teach him a little responsibility, but I think it will teach me a little responsibility and I am already responsible! By the way, if anyone is interested in buying some meat from 4H, feel free to call Jacob!
Kyle is still on the verge of walking. He took about 5 or 6 steps the other day, but has not tried since then. Which brings me to my next problem. I have had a sickie around here!!! Kyle ran a fever for several days and we took him to the doctor on Monday. He has not run a fever since Monday night, but he is still not himself! Last night he was up all night screaming and I have no idea why! Now, I have to decide if I go back to the doctor or wait this out. Whatever I do will be wrong! Do I take him in to find out he is ok or do I stay home all day and regret not knowing what is wrong??? So, back to the walking... it is hard to walk when you are being held all the time.
Kristi had a blog entry about all the things she ever (or never) needed to know. Here is one I could add. I never knew that when you called the pediatrician's office after midnight that they put you through to the pediatrician. (I was expecting a nurse from the hospital... girls, you know who I am talking about, Cinnamon.) I don't think that Dr. Gray was excited to hear from me last night at 3 a.m. I really don't want to take Kyle to the doctor today because I don't want to face Dr. Gray. (Another would be, I never knew my family could stack the laundry that high after I neglected to wash anything for almost a week. Riley even had a comment about how much laundry there was in the laundry room.)
As if we are not busy enough, it is pumpkin time. Kelly has been shipping pumpkins for over a week now. Poor guy is exhausted from dealing with the hired hands and a constantly ringing telephone and he comes home to a baby that screams all night. Hopefully, we can all get some rest tonight.
I started to title this post... All the pictures I missed. I will get my camera out again today.
