My kids were not going to play with guns. (You can quit laughing at me now!) I had good intentions, but they died when Jacob was about 3. He turned everything into a gun and I decided to just give in and buy the poor kid fake guns and swords. They are the most used toys in this house and on the block, for that matter. The kids on the street range in age from 8th grade to Kyle and they will have a big game of cops and robbers going with the entire street involved. The guns of choice around here now are pellet guns. They are "somewhat" harmless and the boys bought their own last Saturday. They have had a blast chasing each other all over the street. There have been no major injuries yet and all the kids are good about wearing their protective glasses. Riley is not quite strong enough to use his gun without help and one of the neighbors has been sweet to help. The poor kid is in the 8th grade and Riley thinks that they are best friends now. It was funny when I told Riley that his new best friend is a brother to the quarterback (of the State Champ Muleshoe Mules) and Riley was real impressed. The Mules are celebrities around here!
Riley has the FLU BUG!!! UGHHH!!! The doctor said it could last two days or it could last 11 days. I am hoping it will be short, but we will wait and see.... (and try to keep him away from his brothers!)
Riley before he started feeling bad.
UPDATE: I added derby car pictures.
It has been another busy week in the Kettner house. I don't have any pictures and I am not even sure where I left my camera right now. I just thought I would put a quick update...
Last weekend we had 2 birthday parties, 1 baby shower, the pinewood derby and a Superbowl party. The pinewood derby was interesting! We have not had a history with fast cars, so Kelly and Jacob decided to try for unique. Jacob's car this year was a boat. (Not very aerodynamic.) We went all out and put a sail on the boat and a little anchor. It was the slowest car in the race, but Jacob won the prize for the most original design.

We watched the Superbowl at the Pierson's house. There were 13 kiddos and everyone got along great. Kyle even stayed out of trouble. The game was fun and the food was wonderful.
Last week flew by and on Friday I took the kids out of school early. We did a little bank business and then headed to Clovis to catch the movie Coroline. I did not like it at all, but the kids thought it was good. (Riley says it was a little scary.) I would not recommend this movie for kids. If you would like more information, give me a call.
We are finally getting rain tonight. Our last rain was October 11th and the area has been very dry. Thank you Jesus for the much needed moisture.
