MYRTLE BEACH 2009

We had a FANTASTIC week in Myrtle Beach!!! It was so much fun catching up and getting to see the sites of the city. Sunday evening, they had baby sitters lined up for the kids and the adults had a night out. We went to a Brazilian Steakhouse and it was wonderful. (No, we did not plan on being color coordinated.)


After dinner, the boys jammed on the drums.

Monday was rainy and cool, so we went to Chick Fil A for lunch to let the kids run off some energy.





Monday night we saw the Dixie Stampede. I think this was the boys favorite part of the trip.




Tuesday we hit Margaritaville and Magiquest at Broadway at the Beach.






Wednesday, we left Juli to take care of some business and we headed up to Johnny Rockets and Alligator Adventure. The boys touched a baby alligator and big snake. Kyle liked the alligators.









Thursday was beach day. The weather was beautiful and the water was not too cold. We played on the beach most of the afternoon and then headed over to the Nascar Speedpark. The boys were cautious drivers, but they had fun.



















Friday morning we enjoyed Krispy Kreme.





After lunch at Salsaritas, we headed to Charleston.




We enjoyed our vacation so much and did not want to come home.

Kelly and I met my cousin, Courtney, and her family in Charleston for dinner. We ate at Hyman's and walked around downtown Charleston for a quick tour.



Saturday morning, we flew out of Charleston. The boys thought it was cool to walk out to the airplane at Charleston.

SPRING BREAK!!!

I had every intention of updating before we left for Myrtle Beach, but we are about to walk out the door. Have a great week and we will be back next Saturday with plenty of pictures and stories.

Blue and Gold Banquet

Friday the 13th was cold and snowy and we had the annual Blue and Gold Banquet for the Cub Scouts. Jacob is now officially a WEBELO.


Jacob receiving his God and Me merit badge from our pastor. The Bears met with Monty for two afternoons to work on this badge.



The dessert for the evening were the cakes from the Dad and Lad contest. (You might remember the cake from last year.) Jacob decided to make a bucket of popcorn this year because the scouts sell popcorn in the fall. The cake turned out really cute (even though it looked more like a bowl, instead of a bucket) and they won the Grand Prize.

Riley cannot wait to be a Cub Scout next year. I already purchased the boys uniforms and they are ready to wear them.

Pellet Guns

My kids were not going to play with guns. (You can quit laughing at me now!) I had good intentions, but they died when Jacob was about 3. He turned everything into a gun and I decided to just give in and buy the poor kid fake guns and swords. They are the most used toys in this house and on the block, for that matter. The kids on the street range in age from 8th grade to Kyle and they will have a big game of cops and robbers going with the entire street involved. The guns of choice around here now are pellet guns. They are "somewhat" harmless and the boys bought their own last Saturday. They have had a blast chasing each other all over the street. There have been no major injuries yet and all the kids are good about wearing their protective glasses. Riley is not quite strong enough to use his gun without help and one of the neighbors has been sweet to help. The poor kid is in the 8th grade and Riley thinks that they are best friends now. It was funny when I told Riley that his new best friend is a brother to the quarterback (of the State Champ Muleshoe Mules) and Riley was real impressed. The Mules are celebrities around here!

The 76ers

Jacob is on his first basketball team this year. They had 3 games last week and everyone had a great time! Jacob is having fun, but it is even more fun being a spectator. Those kids have hilarious expressions on their face when they get the ball and when they dribble. Jacob is really good at defense, but still clams up when he gets the ball on offense. I know he will improve with more practice. Our Jacob is number 30. (Sorry all the action shots are dark.)

Spearman

Last weekend, we headed to Spearman, Texas, to attend the funeral of a good friend. I could not find a baby sitter, so Kelly and I had to take the kids with us. We went the day before and had a little fun at Chuck E Cheese and swimming in the hotel.

We lucked out. They had childcare at the funeral and Kyle stayed with them. The funeral was nice and I think the boys did a good job. Riley is good friends with the little boy that lost his grandmother and he was very sweet...telling Tobin that he was sorry for his loss.

We had lunch and headed home. Jacob and Kelly went to the boy scout lock in that night. I asked Kelly to take pictures and he told me that if I wanted pictures that I need to go myself. SO, if you want to get an idea of the fun times they had, check out Kyra's blog.
